RAID?!?!?!

Ok not the bug spray Raid, the drive configuration RAID. I’m now using RAID 0 (for speed) to handle the My Documents folder and Movies that I have. Setting it up was fairly strait forword. I did alot of reading of my motherboards user manual on how to set it up. I havn’t done any huge video editing yet but I have done some large file transfers and it is much faster then the standered IDE system.

I recommend using two of the exact same drive. Right now I’m running it with a 20G and a 40G but I can only use the max of 20G. But boy is it a fast 20G. Next up on my todo list is cooling. With three hard disk together this thing is heating up very quickly. I think I’m going to need to eather put bigger fans in or figure out another way of spacing the drives out because at this rate, I don’t no how much longer the drives can stand up to the heat.

I changed the Blogs Theme today. I still havn’t had time to make my own but I’m going to make some changes to this one. The header needs more and I have already fixed the side bar to the way I like it. Hmm… next up on my todo list is to make my gusetbook script Admin panel.

New Laptop!

Well a few weeks ago I ordered my first laptop. Today it came in. I wasn’t expecting it till next thursday but today is just fine for me! It’s a Dell Inspiron 640m. I’ll post some pictures later on.

The specks are:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor Solo T1350 (2MB Cache/1.86GHz/533MHz FSB)
  • 80GB Sata Hard Drive
  • Windows XP Home
  • 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
  • 1G of RAM

I don’t plan on installing linux on it because it runs Windows just fine but I may consider it later on. My main computer is still duel booting between Kubuntu and Windows. My linux is on my 100G drive and windows is on my smaller 40G drive. My Dad got a new computer so I got his old 20G drive and I’m running it on raid as just another drive. Well have a good day all.

Well last week I changed my working hours. I now work from 12:00 – 5:00 Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. It’s nice because I get to sleep in now and still spend time with Jess. So far I’v made about $300. I’m looking into buying a laptop but I dunno how that’s going to work out. Anyways bye bye for now!
